The annual Winterfest Christmas tree exhibition opening Sunday at the Sycamore Shoals State historic area, provided the activity the more slow paced vacation for people who want to take a break from fighting the crowds for the perfect Christmas gift.
Opening reception for tree exhibition will be held Sunday, November 27, from 1-4 pm
The event, which runs until the end of December, features 16 Fraser fir trees decorated by local civic groups, organizations, schools and churches, plus larger tree in the lobby. Conditions only to point out is that the majority of tree ornaments, hand-made. The theme for this year’s show is “Tender Tennessee Christmas,” which goes along with the theme for the Christmas Parade to be held on Saturday, December 3.
Preparation for Christmas tree show began Tuesday morning when the Group was assigned the number of trees they through images. The group then have Tuesday evenings, Wednesdays and Saturdays to decorate their tree prior to the opening reception on Sunday. Some groups got up early and have the tree they are completely decorated by early Tuesday afternoon.
