Get Smart with Steve Carell

Get Smart with Steve Carell is a remake of the classic 1960’s television series of the same name. Revolving around Steve Carell who plays agent Maxwell Smart or Agent 86. The duo runs into more trouble after the CONTROL agency has been destroyed, and then they learn that their agency has been infiltrated by a double-agent. This leads to distrust amongst the remaining agents as they attempt to discover not only who the secret agent is, but also makes it difficult to stop the bombing of the building that the president will be in.

Although there is a serious element to the movie, most of the movie keeps the same quirky humor that made the 60’s version of the television show so popular. After the building is destroyed, Agent Maxwell Smart decides that use of the Cone of Silence is necessary to make sure that no one is listening in on their conversations. This proves to be a problem as the Cone of Silence works just as well as the 1960’s version. The agents cannot hear each other, upon this realization Agent Smart remarks that it was he who had hit the chief in the head with a fire extinguisher in an attempt to clear his conscience.

Get Smart is a great movie that stays faithful to the original 1960’s television show starring actors Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway, and Dwane ‘The Rock’ Johnson, and thanks to Directv New York I was able to watch it from the comfort of my house!
